Important notes for In-person Examinations

 
The finalised timetable will be released from 21 November 2025 onwards. Relevant student notices will be posted on the Learner Portal near the time. Please read carefully the following important points regarding the in-person examinations:

Regarding the assessments for courses in E-learning Mode or any courses with assessments to be conducted through SOUL or online platforms, the respective course coordinators would have posted announcements regarding the arrangements, such as the assessment method, schedule, submission channels, instructions, etc. Should you have any inquiries, kindly contact your lecturers or Course Coordinators promptly. If you encounter any technical issues on the assessment date, please report them and contact the relevant lecturers immediately.

Student ID cards/ HKID cards

You must bring your original student ID cards/ HKID cards for verification during the examinations. Photocopied documents are not acceptable. Those who are unable to present their cards may not be allowed to sit or may be disqualified from the examinations.

Precautionary Measures

In case you have symptoms of flu, you should wear a mask to protect yourself and others. Students may be asked to remove their masks during attendance checking for identity verification.

Please do not start the examination if you have a fever or fall ill on the day of the examination.  No make-up examination will be arranged for students who attempted the examinations. If students are unable to attend the examinations due to extenuating circumstances (e.g. illness), they are required to apply for absence from examinations. Mobile phone and other electronic/communication/sound-making devices including iWatch/ Smart Watches

Students are strongly advised not to bring handheld computers/iPads, mobile phones, headsets, smartwatches and other kinds of electronic/communication devices with mobile applications installed or wireless technologies supported that can emit sound (e.g. mobile phones, smartwatches, MP3 players, electronic dictionaries, databank watches and earphones, etc.) to the examination venue. If these devices have been brought into the venue, they must be switched off, including any alarm function and sealed inside the bags under the chairs. Students are also advised to take out the battery from all sound-making devices before the start of the examination to ensure that no sound or alarm function will be emitted. If, during the examination, students are found using their electronic devices or have not switched the devices and the alarm off, they will be regarded as having committed an act of cheating and subject to penalty and disqualification, irrespective of whether the devices contain materials relevant to the examination.


Equipment Permitted / Required for Examinations


Electronic Calculators

Students taking in-person examinations should check with their course lecturers whether they are permitted to use calculators and models of calculators and other requirements. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their calculators operate satisfactorily and do not violate the criteria which course lecturers require. Moreover, students should study carefully the regulations regarding the use of calculators, which are listed in Regulations and Conduct of Examinations (page 3, point 18) posted on the Examination Website and the Student Handbook (Page 320, point 23)

HB pencils and erasers and Instructions for OMR MC Answer sheet

For certain courses, students are required to bring HB pencils and erasers to complete multiple-choice questions on the optical mark reading (OMR) answer sheets during examinations. Students should contact their lecturers or Course Coordinators if they have any questions regarding the required examination stationery, NO stationery will be provided at the examination venues.

Please refer to the “Instructions – How to Fill the Optical Mark Reading (OMR) Multiple Choice Answer Sheet”  for how to fill out the OMR Multiple Choice answer sheet. The answer sheet may not be marked if students fail to follow the instructions stated.



Arrival


You should arrive at the examination venue at least 20 minutes in advance to check your seat numbers and for other relevant information and be seated at least 5 minutes before the start of the examination in order to avoid missing any announcement. Please also ensure that you visit the washroom before entering the examination venue, as you will not be permitted to leave during the first hour and the last 30 minutes of the examination.

Please remember to bring your Student ID Card or HKID card for verification during the examination.

Please make the necessary arrangements for your own transportation and allow extra travelling time to avoid late arrival. Examinations are scheduled will be held at different campuses or external venues as follows:
